Action Pistol Match

Held on the third Saturday of each month.

This match will emphasize movement, accuracy, speed, and mindset.  Here are the details:

§  There will be four stages of approximately 20 rounds per stage.  Bring plenty of ammunition, just in case you miss.

§  The cost of the match is $20, cash only.  Exact change is appreciated.

§  Sign-up begins at 8:30 AM.  The match will start promptly at 9:00 AM following a briefing.

§  Shooters should bring their choice of handgun.  9mm, .40SW, or .45ACP are our most common cartridges.  Calibers smaller than 9mm are discouraged because they do not reliably dispatch steel targets.

§  A belt holster of the typical outside-the-waistband style that retains the handgun during movement and covers the trigger guard is required.  A means to carry magazines is also recommended.  New shooters may be required to begin from low ready rather than a holster draw.

Participants are expected to adhere to the following four fundamental firearm safety rules at all times:

1.       Treat all firearms as if they are always loaded.

2.       Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.

3.       Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.

4.       Identify your target and what is behind it. Never shoot at anything that you have not positively identified.

There is zero tolerance for unsafe firearm handling.  If a participant breaks any of these basic rules, they will not be allowed to continue with the match and will be asked to leave.

Furthermore, RSC is run as a cold range during this event.  This means that all firearms are unloaded (no magazine in well, empty chamber) at all times other than when a participant is shooting a stage.  The only time a firearm is to be loaded is under the supervision of a safety officer while at the firing line.  When you arrive at the range, please gear-up in an empty bay prior to the match briefing.

If you are unable or are unwilling, for whatever reason, to abide by these essential safety rules, then please do not come to the match.

NOTE:  Range is open to members, provided all safety rules are followed and member advises Division Chairman of their arrival in order to coordinate cease-fires, etc.
